PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

EDTA is mainly used to sequester metal ions in aqueous solution. In the textile industry ,it prevents metal ion impurities from modifying colours of dyed products .In the pulp and paper industry .EDTA inhibits the ability of metal ions, especially Mn2+, from catalyzing the disproportionation of hydrogen peroxide, which is used in "chlorine-free bleaching." In a similar manner, EDTA is added to some food as a preservative or stabilizer to prevent catalytic oxidative decoloration, which is catalyzed by metal ions.
Molecular Formula: C10H16N2O8
CAS NO.:60-00-4
Molecular Weight:M=292.2
Feature:EDTA is a white crystal powder,insoluble in common organic solvents,soluble in boiling water 160 times as much and in alkali solvents like sodium hydroxide. At 150ºC, it shows the tendency to depart from carboxyl.
Melting point: 240ºC(decomposition)
Dissolving degree in water: 0.5g/L(25ºC)

PRODUCT USAGE

1. Polymer chemical industry: used as polymerization terminator for styrene-butadiene latex polymerization activator and acrylic fiber production device;
2. Daily chemical industry: used as an additive for various detergents, skin care products and perm hair conditioners;
3, paper industry: used as a treatment agent in fiber cooking, improve paper whiteness, reduce scaling in the steamer;
4, textile printing and dyeing industry: to improve the dyeing rate and the color and whiteness of printing and dyeing textiles;
5, in the food industry: can be used as a chelating agent in the food industry such as canning, to eliminate the interference of metal ions.
6. In molecular biology experiments: it is a divalent metal chelating agent that inhibits nucleases; reduces the stability of cell membranes.
In addition, EDTA can also be used to detoxify harmful radioactive metals from the body.
